This site was built by me, a guy who has struggled with learning disabilities his whole life. Since my earliest childhood memories, I spent a good portion of my school years in a teacher’s or principal’s office, discussing my behavioral problems or inability to focus. I’ve been labeled “slow,” “stupid,” even “retarded” and “unteachable.” I’ve lived through most of my nine lives too – From excessive partying to dangerous drug use, to being arrested once for fighting, Imade decisions that almost cost me my future.
However, along with my mistakes, I’ve been taught valuable lessons that helped me overcome a lot of obstacles and succeed in spite of my many shortcomings. I’ve learned to manage my ADHD symptoms without any drugs. I’ve overcome depression and I’ve learned healthy and effective ways of working through my anxiety. These breakthroughs have allowed me to accomplish things that a learning disabled misfit would have never dreamed of ten years ago.
I’ve built a series of successful businesses that have really increased the quality of people’s lives. I’ve been able to use some of the money those businesses generated to contribute to meaningful causes, like this one. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in a position to help my family out with financial support when they need it too.
I believe our disabilities are really gifts that are wrapped up in challenges – your gift is the the person you have to become just to overcome them. I share my story because I want you to know that you can overcome your challenges too. Some of the resources that helped me get through the hardest times are right here on this site for free, please take them and use them anytime.
There is no judgement here, no labels, no criticism, just love, guidance and help when you need it the most. Remember, your character is defined not by what you accomplish but by what you overcome. The fact that you’re still reading this tells me that you’ve already overcome a lot. Congratulations.
I challenge you to use your gifts as a force for your good, not for your suffering. Make a decision now to try looking at your difficulties from a fresh new set of eyes and appreciate yourself because you’re different. Stop punishing yourself because you don’t fit in or perform at the same level as others. Instead, join our community where you’ll learn how to develop your talents and make peace with your flaws (we all have them). Welcome to our family, we’ve been waiting for you to arrive!
Together we will succeed In Spite Of our disabilities,
Ryan Moalemi
